Congratulations to California Democrats on their new state of the art “green” high-speed rail system that will deliver dozens of people from Bakersfield to Merced in just 45 minutes! And it’s only cost $8 billion so far! With no hope of ever getting the trains into San Francisco or Los Angeles!
California Democrats have decided to double down on bad policy and run their bullet train from nowhere to the middle of nowhere.
This is just the first example of how the Green New Deal will go. Lofty plans that sound great but have no basis in reality will be drawn up and implemented to save the world.
Then reality will intervene and the grocery store shelves will be as empty as a rocket train to Merced.
The young liberals today that think they are genderless superheroes are going to find out the hard way that techno-narcissism is not an alternative energy source, that proving something works in a test bed is a far cry from running industrial civilization on it and that “alternative energy” platforms that are based on massive petroleum inputs (like solar and wind) are in fact petroleum-based energy systems.
Ultimately, California’s high speed rail will have used more petroleum to construct and maintain than it will save.
Therein lies the truth of the Green New Deal: It is an expensive lie.
