Visitors check out the diverse array of vendor booths at the 2013 Four States Ag Expo. While total attendance dipped this year, organizer Radiance Beals said the board of directors were pleased with the event, specifically the horse clinicians, stock dogs demonstrations and bull sale.

The Four States Ag Expo drew fewer people than last year, according to organizer Radiance Beals, but the board of directors was still pleased with the event as a whole.

Beals spoke on behalf of her husband, Ag Expo President Dusty Beals, who was traveling and unavailable. She said attendance stood at close to 8,000 people for the four-day event. She could not be specific, but thought last year's figure was closer to 9,000.

"We had visitors from all four (Four Corners) states. And, from the license plates, states further away too," she said.

According to vendor listings published in the Cortez Journal's Ag Expo supplement, the number of booths in the Main Pavilion, and grounds outside, declined from about 70 in 2012 to 50 in 2013.

The board held a meeting Thursday night to reflect on successes, things to be improved, and preliminary plans for the 2014 event.

The board will also begin searching for a new executive director following the resignation of Pam Linscott.

"We parted ways," Beals said.
