The Cortez Public Library has announced that it is participating in the statewide Growing Readers Together program, a Buell Foundation-supported program designed to “engage with family, friend and neighbor child care providers through an enhanced focus on early literacy.”

The program – titled “It Takes a Neighborhood to Raise a Reader. Welcome to the Neighborhood!” – provides resources for care providers and targets children ages 0-6 years old. It is free.

The library invites family, friend and neighbor providers to an open house on Feb. 9, from 11 to 1 p.m. The library will hand out reading kits and serve refreshments, children’s librarian Laura McHenry said.

The Buell Foundation is a philanthropic organization that supports the development of children through grants and partnerships. It is based in Denver.

The library is at 202 N. Park St. For more information, call McHenry at 970-565-8117.
