Dolores River Brewery to host Dirty Bourbon River Show



On Friday, March 8, the Dolores River Brewery will host a band sure to get your feet moving. Hailing from New Orleans, Dirty Bourbon River Show creates a visually uproarious soundscape of cajon, ska, gypsy circus rock that can only be described as "Awesome". Getting intimate with this group of heathens may not be for the meek at heart. Come test your medal this Friday night at the Brewery. Cover - $10 at the door.





2013 Birding Festival meeting



Join the Cortez Cultural Center 25 N. Market on Friday March 8 at 7 p.m. and learn everything you always wanted to know about the Birding Festival. Our local festival has become one of the best. A presentation will be offered by Diane Cerbak who will discuss some of the exciting adventures planned for this year's event. Presbyterian Women Spring Rummage Sale



The Presbyterian Women will hold their Spring Rummage Sale on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church, 350 S. Washington St. next to the Manaugh School. There are no prices, so make an offer - there should be something for everyone. All proceeds raised go to mission projects. Dolores Healing Space to present emotional freedom workshop



On Monday, March 11 from 6 to 7 p.m., Dr. Ryan DeMares, Hypnotherapist and Certified EFT Master Practitioner, will present "Tapping for Emotional Freedom" at the Dolores Healing Space.

One of the most universal and practical self-help techniques anyone can learn is "tapping." Not only is it usually surprisingly effective, it is suitable for use by almost anyone from adolescents to elders, and it's easy and fun to learn as well as easy to share with friends and family. Music in Motion classes



Music in Motion, a music class for children ages birth through 6 and their caregivers, will begin on Monday, March 11 at Come Dance Tonight, located at 30 West Main, Cortez, at 9:30 AM. This will be a 10-week session, running every Monday (except for April 1), until May 20. Participants in the 45-minute class we will sing traditional folk songs; moving/dancing/playing along to varied, multi-cultural music; using percussion/rhythm toys; learning rhymes/finger plays and more

Republican women to host Plested



Republican Women's Club of Montezuma County invites ALL to attend their next Meeting on March 14,2013 at noon at Shiloh's Steakhouse on the corner of Veach St.and Main St.in Cortez.

Dr. Bill Plested III MD, former President of the American Medical Association will speak on the effects of " Obamacare "- Affordable Health Care on our lives. There will be a questions and answering period afterwards.

Dolores Healing Space to host 'Cholesterol Myth'



On Monday,March 18 from 6 to 7 p.m., Amy Loschert, ND, will present "The Cholesterol Myth" What are the true risk factors for heart disease and the best practices for prevention? What is meant by "good" and "bad" cholesterol? Join us for this informative presentation on what you need to know about cholesterol, and how you can help keep your heart healthy! Free tax return assistance offered



The Dolores Public Library will offer free tax return assistance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Erin Sweet Neer, CPA will be providing assistance for 2012 US & Colorado income tax returns.

(Eligible returns include 1040EZ, 1040A and Schedule A. Schedules E (Rental Income and C (Business Income) are not eligible for this free assistance). Come Prepared - be sure to bring the following: All W-2's, 1099's and any other income related documents, proof of mortgage interest, property taxes, daycare payments, charitable contributions and all other tax-deductible expenses, any education expenses (1098T from your college), a copy of last year's return, if available, photo ID and Social Security Card, bank account number and routing number for direct deposit of your refund.

Assistance will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Please call the library (882-4127) or register in person.





Leave No Trace training



Dolores River Boating Advocates will host a "Leave No Trace" awareness workshop for whitewater boaters on Saturday, March 23 at 4Corners Riversports in Durango from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to minimize impacts to the rivers Rick Ryan, former BLM Dolores River ranger, will lead the training. Cost is $10, which includes lunch and all materials. Space is limited, register by calling 799-1475 or email info@doloresriverboating.org.





Bingo to benefit Operation Graduation
