Thursday, Jan. 3

6:12 p.m.: Loose cattle were reported on a property on the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 491. The owner took them back to her property, and a deputy observed that they appeared to be in good health.

Friday, Jan. 4

11:22 a.m.: A man failed to register as a sex offender. His last known address was homeless in the Lewis area of County Road 22. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Monday, Jan. 7

11:09 a.m.: A man reported that a property owner on the 13000 block of County Road EE has not been feeding his 30 cows. One of the cows was dead when a deputy arrived, and several cows had visible hip and rib bones. The stock tank had minimal water and was frozen. The deputy left a Notice of Entry and Care at the corral.

1:49 p.m.: A woman on the 29000 block of County Road H reported damage to a fence. The property owner and MCSO sergeant believe the damage was caused by hunters seeking to recover game. Repairs were estimated at $100.

4:21 p.m.: A woman was cited for driving on a suspended license on the 1000 block of S. Broadway.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

10:36 a.m.: A man reported a possible scam on the 14000 block of County Road EE. Someone who said they are with Publisher’s Clearing House told the man he won $2 million but first needed to send $700. He did not send any money.

10:52 a.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a warrant.

11:48 a.m.: A woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a warrant.

Thursday, Jan. 10

12:00 p.m.: An inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a parole hold.

Friday, Jan. 11

12:33 p.m.: An inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served a failure to appear warrant.

Saturday, Jan. 12

11:51 a.m.: A man was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and theft on the 500 block of N. Elm St. for stealing an iPhone 6 and a pair of gloves from a property on the 23000 block of County Road K.3. The man said the property owner was his sixth-grade teacher.

3:04 p.m.: A man was pulled over for speeding was suspected of driving while under the influence of marijuana. He was evaluated for signs of impairment at the Cortez Police Department, at 608 N. Park St. The case was waiting on the results of a blood draw.

Monday, Jan. 14

11:11 a.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a failure to appear warrant.

2:06 p.m.: A woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on a failure to appear warrant.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

12:38 p.m.: A man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was remanded into custody on the charge of distribution of a controlled substance.

8:11 p.m.: A man at the entrance of Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply.
