Riggs will report on work at Bowthorpe Site

The next meeting of the San Juan Basin Archaeological Society will be at 7 p.m., Jan 9, at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.

After a review of 2018 field trips and a preview of the 2019 field trip schedule, FLC professor Chuck Riggs will present a program on the 2018 FLC field school work at the Bowthorpe Site.

Riggs’ area of expertise is in Southwest archaeology with emphases on prehistoric architecture, migration, GIS-based approaches, public education, Native American collaboration and cultural resource management. His experience includes fieldwork and research throughout Arizona, and in southern California, New Mexico and Colorado. Riggs believes strongly in experiential education, and regularly offers off-campus courses at the Pigg site, and in places like Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde National Park.
