Adopt a teacher

Every year teachers spend large amounts of their own money to provide learning tools for their students. Most or many of the items that were donated through the school supply drive at the start of the school year have been used up and teachers in the Montezuma-Cortez School District again need assistance. Most of the teachers have requested basic supplies like dry erase markers and erasers, paper and pencils. Some would like to expand the reading options for their students and have asked for help in obtaining books and other materials. Do you belong to a book club that may consider helping a teacher acquire additional reading tools? The middle school band teacher is in need of musical instruments. The school has 20 instruments available but the teacher anticipates a class of 65 students next fall. Flutes, clarinets and trumpets are especially needed. Used instruments can be dropped off at Let It Grow Nursery and Garden Market, 90 Mildred St. in Cortez, Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information contact Judy Schuenemeyer at 565-7837 or judyswsc@q.com.
