Why must we go backward on internet?

Any “partnership” to allow citizens to enjoy high-speed internet in Cortez will result in what we have now, poor to non-existent customer service, throttling, and less than gigabit quality (“Cortez seeks public-private partnership on fiber optics,” Dec. 7).

I’m sure we’ve all gotten ads from CenturyLink and TDS advertising “up to” high speeds, but when you inquire, they tell you, “not in your area.”

Why do we always have to go backward?
