The Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at the Cortez Animal Shelter on Saturday, Feb. 16 during the shelter's "Doggie Day Spa" fundraising event where pets and their owners can get some well-deserved grooming and spa treatments. The Girl Scouts have focused on the animal shelter as their Take Action Project where they will learn about animals, and about caring for them and their needs by collecting donations of items needed by the shelter. The Girl Scouts will also learn about the different professions based around animal care, such as becoming a veterinarian. Jennifer Crouse, shelter manager, has been working with the Girl Scouts for their Take Action Project, and has generously offered to allow them to sell cookies during the event. The community is invited to make a reservation at 565-4910, then come on down to the Cortez Animal Shelter next Saturday, Feb. 16 to pamper their dogs, and then pamper themselves.
