Mr. and Mrs. Monte Johnson are the proud new parents of a baby boy born on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez. He weighed in at 5 lbs. 14 1/2 ozs. and has been named Brandon James. Maternal grandparents are Mrs. Jean Koenig of Dolores and Tony Barnes of Tucson, Arizona. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Bebe Hedges of Cortez.

Visitors are now being allowed at the Vista Grande Nursing Home again. Visiting hours were discontinued for a period of time due to the flu epidemic but they are now being resumed.

The Southwestern Livestock Association will be holding their annual business meeting, banquet and dance at the Elks Home in Cortez on Feb. 17.

Final figures for the 1973 winter term at Fort Lewis College show 2,220 students have registered. Last year at the same time, 2,040 students had registered.

Plan to attend the foreign Foods Dinner that is being given by the United Methodist Women of Dolores.

The Dolores River Garden Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Pleasant.

A Taco dinner will be the featured menu at the Community Center in Cortez.

Dr. and Mrs. Ed Merrit, Mr. and Mrs. Merton Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kinkade attended the Grand Opening of the Opera House in Telluride over the last weekend and enjoyed having dinner there.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Nielson have received word from Jerry and Claudia Sanders who are on their way to Alaska and they have reached F. Nelson in British Columbia, Canada.

Harry Rash left by Frontier Airlines for New Orleans, Louisiana on Monday, Jan. 29 where he visited his sisters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Abadie and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd LeBlanc for two weeks.

Several Dolores residents have been attending the Revivial services at the First Baptist Church in Cortez this past week.

Mrs. Caddie Plumlee and Merle Powell enjoyed lunch with Lois Rash on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stephens and Brad went to Durango on Sunday and took their daughter, Debbie out to dinner for her birthday.

Stacy Koenig is in Albuquerque this week taking tests for Airborne. Stacy has enlisted in the Army and has passed his physical. He will leave for basic training after graduation from high school in the spring.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Johnson and daughters had pizza at Shakey's in Cortez on Sunday evening.

Several residents of Dolores are still on the flu list this week, included among these are: Leo Bartholomew, Ed and Coleen McEwen, Charles Millard, Jimmy John Brenner, Lisa Berry and Elaine and Robby Carrigan.

Betty Bowden has recently moved her trailer home from Durango to the Rust Trailer Park in Cortez where she will now be making her home. Betty is employed at Southwest Memorial Hospital.

Henry Clark returned home on Saturday evening after spending two weeks in California.

Mr. and Mrs. Vic Hodges, Jr. and daughters were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Berry on Sunday evening.
