We live in a world of electronic babysitters. Most kids today have a television, computer, violent video games in their rooms, and their parents don't have any idea what they are doing. They are either too busy or don't care what their kids are watching. Parenting is at a point where parents are scared to correct their kids because if they do, someone will accuse them of child abuse or assault or whatever else these non-disciplinary people want.
Parents need to teach their kids to have respect for themselves and others, take responsibility for their actions, and face the reality of what the consequences are for what they have done.
Maybe we should not produce and distribute or sell violent video games and movies. Require parents to take interest in what their kids watch and do. Make the parents responsible for their kids' actions. Let them share the same penalties or sentence. Have more extensive psychiatric evaluations for people suspected of being mentally unstable. Relocate them, if needed, to where they can get constant controlled care. Have better background checks for gun buyers. No more than 10-round gun clips.
Bring back the death penalty - death by hanging, at noon, rather than at midnight, by injection, when everyone else is asleep.
Eliminate the insanity plea from our judicial system. Let's stick to the facts, not speculation.
Above all, we should honor and respect the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, which gives us the right to bear arms.
