The Cannon Ball stage smacked into a horse, this side of Cortez, Wednesday, and the horse was killed and the stage considerable damaged by the impact. Pete Huggins was driving the bus and neither he nor Wm. Auringer, a passenger, were injured. The accident occurred about two miles this side of Cortez and it seems that the horse was mainly to blame for the accident.

Dick Wilson, well known character in this section of the state, died at Cortez last Friday. Funeral services were held and interment made at Cortez Sunday. Mr. Wilson ran a stage line between Dolores and Cortez for a number of years, and in late years owned a trading post down McElmo canon. He had a wide acquaintance through the southwest and many friends. He suffered a stroke of paralysis last week and his death followed. His wife survives him.

Word has been received here that the news reel pictures made here recently have been released by the Pathe people and are being shown in all parts of the country. It is probably that the reel will be shown at the local theater soon. The picture was made of the Rio Grande Southern bus and the scenery along the road between Rico and Durango.

Abe Wells, section foreman at Vance Junction was killed last Friday when his motor car ran into an engine. Wells was riding alone in the car and had his back to the direction he was traveling to avoid the storm which was in progress. He ran into the engine at full speed. The engine crew saw him coming and had practically stopped the train and had sounded the whistle to attract his attention. But owing to the wind and noise of the car he apparently did not hear.

The condition of Newell Musgrave, who has been suffering with an infected leg, is reported considerable better at this time.

Mrs. George Denby is visiting her parents and friends while george is out with the road crew between here and Dove Creek.

R. W. Prout, of Rico, passed through her Wednesday, enroute to Denver where he was called by the illness of his father.

Wm. McCormick made a trip to Durango Tuesday,where he is taking a series of medical treatments. He returned that evening.
