Lady Panthers take 3rd in Delta

Montezuma-Cortez High School's girls swimming team placed third at the Delta Invitational last Friday.

The Lady Panthers bested Palisade and host Delta. Grand Junction and Fruita Monument were first and second, respectively.

Madison VanBibber came in second in the 50-meter freestyle at 27.54.

Emily Harris swam to a third-place time of 1:05.45 in the 100-free. She also placed third in the 200-Individual Medley relay at 2:44.81, just ahead of fourth-place teammate Sera King (2:49.36). King came in third in the 100-backstroke at 1:15.63.

Kayla Hageman finished fifth in the 100-free in 1:09.53 and fourth in the 200-free (2:32.81). Amanda Haukeness placed seventh in the 50-free (30.98) and eighth in the 100-breaststroke (1:29.13). Amanda Kill was sixth (1:25.28) and seventh (2:44.93) in the 100-back and 200-free.

Selena LaPaz and Jasmyn Brendle were third and fourth at 7:30.08 and 7:47.57 in the 500-free.

The Lady Panthers will swim at Delta again Friday at 4 p.m., before traveling to Aspen on Saturday morning to swim at 9.
