Two vehicles were involved in a collision Friday evening at the intersection of East Main and State streets in Cortez.

Police Lt. Andy Brock said a 16-year-old female driver of a red Honda CRV was cited for careless driving causing bodily injury and failure to yield at an intersection. A 75-year-old female passenger of a tan Toyota Prius suffered a broken collarbone.

“It sounded like somebody just pulled out of an intersection and ran into another car,” Brock said.

Several young people from the Honda embraced after the collision as medical personnel placed the elderly woman in a neck brace and into an ambulance.
