Small-business center to host series for farm and ranch owners

The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center will offer a workshop series designed for farm and ranch owners and land managers on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 30 through Dec. 15.

Attendees will learn the Whole Farm Decision Making Process to create an action plan for growing their business. Hands-on workshops will provide practical ideas on writing a business plan, developing a financial plan and creating marketing strategies.

Instructor Cindy Dvergsten, owner of Arriola Sunshine Farms, has more than 30 years of hands-on, working knowledge of running a profitable farm and years of teaching and consulting experience.

The six-day workshop series is appropriate for small or large acreages, new and seasoned producers and land managers.

The Whole Farm and Ranch Workshop series will be from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Durango Recreation Center at 2700 N. Main Ave. Fee for the six sessions is $300, and partial scholarships are available.
