Candidates, could you be more specific?

Have you noticed what a great interest our current commission race has stirred up? We are fortunate to have a really good group of folks running. I have my choice, as do many, but won’t share that because like religion, it’s a personal choice and you’re almost always half wrong.

The topic that we all should be focusing on is how Montezuma County can be more self-supportive. When one tax revenue source (Kinder Morgan) contributes such a large portion and then that source starts to dwindle, it leaves us in scramble mode to try and fill the void. Our best opportunity is for growth. As is typical in politics, everyone says they are for growth but rarely define specifics.

I can say I’m for better-paying jobs, more youths to stick around or come back around, lower taxes, better roads, less government control, lower crime, more of everything good and less of everything bad, but how can these be achieved? Please give specifics.

Love or hate our current president, he gave specific goals like lowering taxes, creating jobs, rebuilding our military and is actually getting a lot done. So candidates, I applaud your courage for running and believe each of you have different but fine qualities to bring for us all to decide on. If possible, please describe, specifically not generally, to us your plans and how to reach them, for our needs in Montezuma County.
