The animals and staff at the Cortez Animal Shelter would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for participating and sponsoring dogs in the "12 Strays of Christmas": Pet Pal Cindy Barnhouse, Cortez Vision's Dr. Kim Parr, Cedarwood Animal Clinic's Dr. Laurie Ward, Seas'nings LLC, Slavens True Value, Fast Eddie's, Cortez Journal, Cortez Adobe Animal Hospital, Vibrant Pet Vet Clinic, Envy Salon, Mr. Concrete, Shilohs Steakhouse and Bakery, Triad Constructors, Department of Social Services' Jody Mealine, Jimmer's Backcountry BBQ, New Country Auto, P & D Grocery in Mancos, Cox Conoco of Mancos, and Domino Hawks.

The dogs thoroughly enjoyed getting dressed up and going walking downtown everyday. When it was time to get dressed their eyes would light up with glee. Most of the dogs learned more manners while walking and it got them out of the shelter for an hour every day. The dogs that took part in the walking were "Stan" the Corgi mix, "Cookie" the Heeler mix, "Cheyenne" the Schnauzer, "Yeti" the Black Mouth Cur, "Austin" the terrier, "Midnight" the Labrador mix, "Roxy" the German Shepherd mix, and "Remmy" the Red Heeler. There were several dogs that stayed at the shelter (that did not enjoy being on a leash) that were sponsored. All the dogs that were at the shelter for the holidays were adopted except for Midnight. She is still at the shelter and is a wonderful girl. There were also several cats that were adopted for the holidays.

The "12 Strays of Christmas" was a great success this year and the funds from the fundraiser will be used to add more outdoor kennels for the dogs to utilize for outside play.

The shelter would also like to thank the generous individual, who wished to remain anonymous, for the donation of the vacuum cleaner. It will be used every day to clean the rugs at the shelter. Thank you!
