To the editor:
The Mancos Giving Tree received forty-two family applications totaling 163 recipients dreaming of a happy holiday. Thanks to the generosity of the Mancos community, 2012 was a great success! A thank you goes out to each and every person, family, group and organization that took an ornament from a tree and filled their needs and wishes!
We received many private donations, as well as support from The Girl Scouts of America, Mancos High School Student Council, the National Honor Society, Philanthropic Educational Organization, Hamburger Haven, Empire Electric, Bob and Sue Scott and Dee Booten. Thank you to Betsy Harrison, of Mancos Valley Resources, for assisting with the check contributions.
We would like to thank Mancos Valley Bank, P & D Grocery, Mancos Library, Zuma and the Columbine for hosting our trees. Food baskets were stocked and delivered by members of the Mancos United Methodist Church and Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. This year we began a partnership with the Mancos Marshal's office and Officers Bill Knauer and John Cox donated their time for deliveries in the community. We are very grateful for their assistance.
Additionally, we would like to send a huge thank you to the Artisans of Mancos, the Columbine, Coldwell Banker and Mancos Valley Bank, for being drop-off locations and accepting the many gifts and packages.
We appreciate all of our wrapping, shopping and delivery elves. RE/MAX Mesa Verde Realty once again donated the use of their office for our headquarters and has our immense appreciation. As always, keep the Giving Tree in mind next fall, as we always need donations and volunteers.
Many thanks go to those in Montezuma and LaPlata counties for their contributions as well.
