Staff for small nonprofits can learn the ins and outs of their financial and tax reporting obligations at a workshop to be led by CPA Dan Whitehead at the Mancos Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Intended for area organizations with less than $100,000 in annual gross revenue, the session will cover tax documentation and help to clarify procedures such as donation tracking and independent contractor reporting.

A Q&A format will help clear up Internal Revenue Service Forms 990, 1099 and others.

“We’ll help steer you in the right direction so you don’t get into trouble,” Whitehead said in a news release. He has more than 30 years’ experience in public accounting and is the controller of Montezuma Water Co. and a member of the professional staff of Rogers & Co., PC, in Cortez.

He also belongs to the board of directors of Mancos Valley Resources, which is sponsoring the free workshop.

“Just bring your questions,” said Whitehead.
