Chamber After Hours



The next Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce After Hours gathering will be at Aarons, 2258 E. Main, Jan. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.

After Hours is the ultimate networking event and a chance to build business relationships. It's set in a casual environment with a lively fun crowd. It's free to Chamber members and invited guests.

Dinner at The Farm Bistro



The Farm Bistro, an established farm to table lunch restaurant located at 34 West Main in downtown Cortez, now offers dinner service.

Dinner will be served every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 9 p.m.. Reservations can be made at 565 3834. Lunch service continues to be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Farm offers daily specials, a farm stand, art gallery, locally made products and books.

The dinner service will offer diners a gourmet dining experience with freshly made items like pasta, rainbow trout fish and chips, chicken fried steak and house made desserts. The casual lunch service will be replaced by table service, antique oil lamps and linen napkins for dinner. The menu will change from time to time and will be accented by daily specials.

A beer and wine license is in the works, and is expected to be in place by spring. In the meantime, guests are welcome to bring their own beer or wine.







Authentic Beauty Salon opens in Cortez



Jodie Wagner recently opened Authentic Beauty Salon located at 11311 Road 24, conveniently only three minutes outside of Cortez, next to the new Empire Electric building.

Wagner has lived in Cortez for 18 years with her husband Shawn Wagner and their three children.

Authentic Beauty Salon has a high-end look and is competitively priced, offering retail, hair, nails, pedicure and waxing services. The salon is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Saturdays available by appointment. Wagner says she offers later appointments throughout the week, as long as they are pre-booked, to help better serve the needs of the community. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Registration open for agriculture business class



Registration is now open for the Leading Edge course, "Tilling the Soil of Opportunity" offered by the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center. This innovative, farmer and rancher friendly course teaches the art of business planning and management with a focus on agriculture and related businesses such as food processing, farm services, recreation and tourism. Attendees can learn to test ideas, explore new marketing opportunities, create budgets, understand financial statements, find out about how and where to get funding, develop a business and marketing plan and network with other farmers. The class will be held on Saturday afternoons at the Mancos Public Library starting Saturday, Jan. 19 and will run through March 23. Register by Friday, Jan. 11 to secure a seat.
