For those wondering what to do with their old toys now that all of the new Christmas gifts have inundated the home, please consider donating them to a great cause: Children and families in communities of Costa Rica which are isolated, poor and underserved.

Most families in Costa Rica earn about $10 to $15 per day. Many live in homes with dirt floors and no electricity; some even send their children to school without shoes. So, to have a new toy or clothing would be a dream come true for a number of children who may not have received any presents at Christmas.

Community members interested in cleaning out toy boxes, closets or cabinets, or who wish to donate funds to help with shipping and import costs, contact Pepper Noyes at 739-3584.

Donations may also be dropped off at Mountain Hair Company, 307 East Main St. in Cortez through Thursday, Jan. 31. No jackets or sweatshirts are needed, as the average temperature is 85 degrees throughout the year.
