New Year's Eve at the Columbine



Let's wrap up the holiday festivities with the great New Year's party at the Columbine Bar. The party kicks off at 8 p.m., with dance music provided by the Moetones. The $5 cover charge will cover the music, hats and noisemakers, snacks, "midnight" toast, and special drinks. The gang will all be there, so come on by and say goodbye to 2012, and hello to 2013!





Bilingual storytime at Mancos Library



The Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St, is now offering Little People Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in both English and Spanish. Children ages 3-6 will be taught songs, verses and stories in both languages with the changing of the seasons emphasized. A craft is also offered. Free! Dolores Quilt Guild to meet



The January Dolores Quilt Guild meeting will be held at the Community Center, 400 Riverside Ave. Dolores Colo., Tuesday, Jan. 8, because of the holidays. Our program will be a cleaver Valentine purse. We are in early stages of organizing a 3-day winter sewing retreat on the last weekend of February. Come join us for three days of eating and chatting. We may even get a little sewing done.





Art series in January



The Painted Turtle Studio and Kaleidoscope Wellness are hosting a four-part art class starting in January. Each Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., "Birthing through Art" will be open to anyone interested in connecting more deeply to the birthing process. The series will cost $80 (scholarships and sliding scale available). They will use art and reflection to explore our innate gift to give birth, to uncover our fears that inhibit the natural process, and strengthen our powers to create life. Yoga Wednesdays at Kaleidoscope



Gentle yoga basics with Keneen is at 9 a.m. to 10:15. Yoga all levels with Keneen is at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first class is free and drop ins are $12 and sign-in is encouraged.

Keneen is also hosting two yoga playshops on Jan. 4 through 6, 8 p.m., at the Smiley Building, 1309 E. 3rd Ave, in Durango, and again on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. The cost for the first playshop is $25 and the second is $35; the cost for both is $50. Call 970-259-9740 for more information.





Indoor flea market ongoing event



Eket every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Mancos Flea Market will be held at the Old Hardware Store, 192 S. Main, across the bridge and just past The Absolute Bakery. Everyone is welcome to come sell, browse and buy. Spaces are available - 12'x12' for $15 for both days. Call 749-9320 for more information. Teen writing group meets on Wednesdays



Local writer Suzanne Strazza in partnership with the Mancos Public Library, will be leading a writer's group for teens ages 13-19. This group will meet at the Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St., every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. No prior writing experience is needed. There will be no homework or required writing for this class; it is merely to explore ideas and how to get them onto paper. For more information, please call MPL at 533-7600.





Teen Computer Club at Mancos library



The first Wednesday of each month at 5 to 6:30 p.m. teens will meet in the Community Meeting Room at the Mancos Public Library to work on various computer projects. All meetings will have hands on experience with digital devices, disassemble, build, etc. At times we will have regional computer geeks visit. They will answer questions on specified topics, such as animation, robotics, game development hacking, etc. Questions? Call for more information at 970-533-7600.
