Cuts at the hospital are devastating

I’ve been keeping up with the cuts at the hospital and recently heard that physicians they had contracts with are not being renewed.

What is the community going to do minus these valuable MDs and surgeons?

The hospital in the past has lost numerous surgeons who live in this area, yet now have to work in San Juan hospital in Monticello.

The hospital bought all the office buildings and hired the MDs that were in them. Primary care providers are leaving their positions to better plan for their future as there is no stability with Southwest Health System.

For our community over the past 10 years, we have seen providers come and go, which still results in not enough providers for patients. So how are we ever going to save our hospital when we have no providers?

Those who have came here in the past decade have built their homes here to sustain here and be a big part of our wonderful community.

Mental health in our area has always been underserved, and now the turmoil patients face with new providers once again in a short period of time will ultimately increase the mental health needs of our community.

For those doctors no longer with the hospital, I can only hope they receive a severance packet to maybe reopen their practice.
