The School Community Youth Collaborative (SCYC) would like to thank all the folks that helped us out with our 2nd Annual Jingle Bell Dash 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, Dec. 15. Thank you to Paul Koops for setting the 5K and 1 Mile courses; Amy Fair from the City Of Cortez for lending us cones to mark the course and guidance on how to make it a successful community event; The Cortez Cultural Center for the use of their road marshal signs; Osprey Packs for donating two packs for 1st place prizes for best times in both the 5K and 1 Mile race; Aramark Parks & Destination - Mesa Verde National Park for the donation of a gift certificate prize for Favorite Teacher drawing; and Kaleidoscope Wellness for donating a gift certificate prize for Most Pledges Raised.

Many thanks to Vangi McCoy and volunteers from the Montelores Early Childhood Council - Trish Peters, Tricia Nelson, Pat McCoy and Sahara Thurston - who sponsored the Elf Scurry and provided games and treats for the younger Dash participants. Many, many thanks to Addie and Jude Schuenemeyer and the staff of Let It Grow Nursery and Garden Market for the use of their space and donation of yummie coffee, hot cocoa and goodies!

SCYC would also like to recognize the sponsorship of The Pinon Project for the donation of the coffee mugs and other support. A big thanks out to all the volunteers: Bruce Johnson, Julia Hesse, Ellen Okuma, Rebecca Larson, Chuck McAfee, Kristin Troerk, Christy Janiszewski, Terry Newlin, Jim Price, Chuck Thomas, Jon Leibowitz; and members of the Youth Leadership Council: Judy Ha, Mikkel Waltman, and Andrea Tripp. And of course a huge thank you to the runners, who despite snowy conditions, showed up to jingle their support for SCYC programs and for all teachers of Montezuma County.

Congratulations to Li'l Rascals Preschool who won the Teacher Supply Fund drawing; Matt Keefauver won the Favorite Teacher drawing and to Julie Bell for winning the prize for collecting the most pledges. Cheers to Dave Mathews who finished 1st in the 5K run and to the father/daughter team of Chuck and Gillian Story for coming in 1st in the 1 mile race. Congratulations to all!

We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you. Thank you again for a successful event and wishing you all a very Happy Holiday Season!
