Christmas is not a joyous time of year for many people. When folks have experienced the death of a loved one, loss of their health or financial security, watched those they love struggle with these or many other difficult situations, or are dealing with pure out-and-out loneliness, it can be hard to join in Christmas merriment. A "Blue Christmas" service is a way for those folks to gather, acknowledge their pain and loss, and at the same time engage with the Christmas story.
St. Barnabas Church, 110 W. North St., will offer a Blue Christmas service on Christmas Day at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to this time of reflection that will include Biblical lessons, music, and a ritual of remembrance. Communion will be offered for those who wish to partake. Call 565-7865 with questions.
