Wednesday, Sept. 5

5:26 p.m.: A man was served a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

11:49 p.m.: A driver of a semitrailer was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving under the influence of drugs after hitting a power pole in the 400 block of S. Broadway. A K9 officer alerted police to the driver’s side of the truck cabin, and a small baggie was discovered.

1:02 a.m.: Three women were arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of third-degree assault and robbery after beating another woman, who reported the fight and theft of jewelry. One of the arrested women was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because of an injured hand. Another woman was sought because of an outstanding warrant from New Mexico.

Thursday, Sept. 6

12:48 a.m.: A man reported that three men beat him near the Cortez Public Library, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., but because he declined to press charges and would not adequately describe the assailants, the case was considered inactive. The victim had an outstanding warrant, and agreed to turn himself in on Monday.

12:44 p.m.: A woman who was identified after a fight the day before was arrested on a New Mexico warrant in the 700 block of E. Main St.

1:33 p.m.: While investigating a report of a disturbance at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., an officer arrested a woman who had two outstanding municipal warrants.

2:33 p.m. A vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection at E. Empire and North Park streets.

3:17 p.m.: A woman was cited for stealing two women’s Broncos jerseys and pork chops valued at a total of $66.88 from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

6:07 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in the 900 block of N. Henry St. after an officer responding to a report of a disturbance witnessed her punching a man in the back.

Friday, Sept. 7

1:10 a.m.: A man was pulled over in the 2000 block of E. Main St. and cited for failing to present proof of insurance, failing to signal a turn, and illegal possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and alcohol by an underage person. The man’s father drove him home.

3:42 a.m.: Three young men were questioned about a reported break-in in 700 block of E. Second St. One was arrested for violating an alcohol-related protection order, and another was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

6:40 p.m.: A man who was wanted on a warrant was arrested for resisting arrest after a foot chase with an officer in two trailer parks in the 200 block of W. Seventh St.

10:51 p.m.: A man was cited for trespassing at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Saturday, Sept. 8

1:08 a.m.: A male driver was arrested in the 10 block of W., Main St. and cited with driving with a revoked license as a habitual offender and failing to use a turn signal.

10:24 a.m.: An officer spotted two men sitting and drinking in a ditch in the 100 block of Fillmore St., and one was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

12:11 p.m.: A couple reported that a Chevy pickup truck had been hit by another white pickup in a parking lot at Parque de Vida, 400 N. Mildred Road.

10:27 p.m.: A driver was pulled over in the 10 block of N. Ash St. and arrested for driving with a revoked license, failing to stop at a stop sign, and failing to provide proof of insurance.

10:27 p.m.: A vehicle was rear-ended at 1 W. Sligo St.

Sunday, Sept. 9

2:53 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 300 block of S. Broadway on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after allegedly assaulting her husband. The couple’s son corroborated the husband’s account of the incident.

4:26 p.m.: A man who had visited the dog park and City Market noticed when he arrived home that his car had been damaged in an apparent hit-and-run.

7:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of third-degree assault after allegedly attacking a man near the Cortez Public Library. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

11:24 p.m.: An officer recognized a woman on a bicycle as she entered the Super 8 motel, 505 E. Main St., and arrested her on an outstanding warrant.
