When will it end? The Cortez Police Department seems to be employing more unlawful and dishonest police officers than this small town can afford! I have personally experienced the dishonest practices by CPD officers who continually pull over the same vehicle and never cite anyone for the stated reason for the stop.
More recently, they have blatantly lied about the arrest of a man on a “scooter!” Following his arrest, they have continued to attempt to enter private property and look through vehicle windows, and have not once been able to provide a search warrant. Yet bond amounts have been abnormally high considering that others have been receiving bonds (including repeat offenders), as well as those involved in extremely similar cases.
There should be laws in place to protect everyone involved against discrimination and favoritism!
