In light of the recent school shooting, I'm just speechless. What if this would have happened here in our little mountain town of Cortez ? I went to school in Detroit, Mich., where you have to clear three metal detectors and there were always four or five cops on the site. I was shocked when my friend's son told me there are no metal detectors at M-CHS and there's only one cop to patrol the whole campus.
I think it's time to change that. As a taxpayer, I am willing to pay a little more for the safety and security of our students. My question is, who's with me? I think now is the time we demand city council and the police department to increase the number of officers at M-CHS until we can get metal detectors installed.
