A community cantata is being organized and plans its first practice in the Montezuma-Cortez High School music room on Sept. 17, according to organizer Karen Kelly.

Instrumentalists should arrive at 6 p.m., and singers at 6:30 p.m.

Instrumentalists needed are: rhythm; drum set; flutes 1 and 2; oboe (soprano sax/clarinet); clarinet 1 and 2; trumpet 1-3; horn 1 and 2 (alto sax); trombone 1 and 2 (tenor sax/baritone TC); timpani; violin 1 and 2; viola; cello; and string bass (bass clarinet/bassoon).

The cantata will be under the direction of Marla Sitton, the M-CHS music teacher, Kelly said. Musicians should enter the front doors of the high school and go to the music room. Someone will be there to show people the way.

Musicians are required to pay $10 for their music, and donations are welcome.

For more information, call Karen Kelly at 564-1463.
