Mesa Verde National Park will lift fire restrictions on Sept. 6 at 12:01 a.m., public information officer Cristy Brown said in a news release.
The restrictions have been in effect since May 27, but recent rain showers and cooler temperatures have reduced the fire danger. There are no active fires in the park.
Effective Thursday, open fires or charcoal fires will be allowed in Morefield Campground, Chapin Mesa Picnic Area and park residences. Smoking is allowed in designated areas, but fireworks are prohibited.
If the fire danger increases later in the season, restrictions may once again be implemented.
