It's time for the annual 12 Strays of Christmas fundraiser and adoption event for the Cortez Animal Shelter. Several happy dogs in special holiday attire will get to walk Main Street during the lunch hour in hopes of finding their forever homes with a lucky human companion. The fundraiser was a huge success last year, with very positive response from the public and is now an annual event. Local businesses and individuals can sponsor a dog and have their information displayed on each side of the dog's Christmas outfits while they happily parade down Main Street. Sponsors will also get their information posted on the animal's cage door so the public can see it. Suggested sponsorship of a dog is $25. The shelter will try to cover most of downtown Cortez over the course of the week starting on Monday, Dec. 17, and going to Friday, Dec. 21.
