The Cortez Rotary, in collaboration with the Dollywood Foundation, is working to provide all children in Montezuma and Dolores counties, from birth to age 5, with the gift of reading. Children registered in the program receive a new, hardback book each month from "The Imagination Library." Titles are age appropriate and include such classics as "The Little Engine That Could." The only requirements for eligibility are that the child be 0-5 years of age, reside in Montezuma or Dolores counties and that a current mailing address for the child be on file with the Cortez Rotary.

There is no charge for the books, but there is a $25 annual, fee which pays for shipping and handling. A number of businesses in the community have made substantial contributions as well as Rotary members and private individuals in order to get the program off the ground. The long-range goal is to get every eligible child enrolled in the program. What better gift to give during this holiday season than the gift of reading? By supporting this program or to sign up a child, it's a step in getting childen on the road to a lifetime of adventures through books. For additional information on Imagination Library, to enroll a child or make a contribution to this program, email Shane Hale at shane_hale@hotmail.com. This season, consider giving the gift of reading.

Corporate Sponsors for Imagination Library include: Empire Electric, First National Bank, Vectra Bank and United Way.
