There will be a benefit dinner and silent auction fundraiser for Ron Hunter on Friday, Dec. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Cortez. Dinner will have an offering of soup or stew, and entertainment will be provided by Donny Johnson.

In November of last year, Ron was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma (cancer of the bile duct). It is an undetected cancer that, when found in the late stages, makes treatment options slim to none. In the past year he has undergone many tests, several surgeries, weeks of chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatment, with a number of additional life threatening complications in between. He traveled back to Denver on Monday, Dec. 3, for another surgery. In trying to relieve some of the stress and burden of ongoing medical and travel expenses, the public's support would be appreciated beyond words.

Anyone who would like to donate items for the silent auction, please contact Elizabeth Hunter at 739-9873, Falena Dale at 799-0753, or Brandee Simmons at 799-3284.

There has also been a fund set up at First Southwest Bank in Cortez in Ron's name. For more information about this fundraiser, contact the organizer, Elizabeth Hunter at 739-9873.
