I find it interesting from the news broadcasts about gasoline being limited to the odd and even number on your license plate. In California in November 1979, and going into the beginning of 1980, we were on that system. There was also a limit of gallons that could be purchased. Since I was driving a VW bug, I did not have to worry about it. The trick was, when you would see a station without long lines, to pull in and fill the tank. There were also some times when I was late for work, depending on the lines. Somehow we got by and survived that time.
