The Four Corners Recycling Initiative asks its recyclers in Mancos to help fund the bins and keep the drop-off points tidy.
The bins in Mancos have been overflowing at this summer, which causes blowing trash and a cleanup problem for residents and city employees, Casey Simpson, of Four Corners Recycling, said in a press release.
Sometimes, the bins have been contaminated, which may render the load useless.
“Four Corners Recycling would like to ask all those who recycle, to do so thoughtfully, so that there is limited contamination, and to not leave recyclables outside of the bins if they are full,” the press release said. “These measures will help ensure that this free public drop-off site remains available to the public.”
Four Corners Recycling also said that because of the contamination, overflow and additional bin pulls this year, it needs $1,280 to keep the bins in place until state-funded rebates are awarded in October. It asks that businesses and recyclers “chip in and help us reach this $1,280 funding goal.”
