Dear Community: A great big thank you to all those, along with the Cortez Fire Protection, who also gathered food for the sacks we give at the Good Samaritan Center from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 25 1/2 S. Elm in the alley behind Slavens: 98.7 KRTZ, 740 KNFC, 97.9 KISS Country radio stations, Empire Electric, Steve Keetch Motors, New Country Auto Center, Town and Country Furnishings, State Farm Agent Dennis Morita, Fraley and Co., Cellular One, Citizens State Bank, and RE-1 Transportation driver Sherry Dietrick and her husband James, and son Sawyer, who helped unload the bus along with Roberta Gallegos, Cindy Stuckman, Patty Lesky, Tricia Kinne and Sonia Alvarez. Safeway allowed the bus to take up five parking spaces to make it easy to give donations. Safeway pre-made $10 sacks of food to Feed the Hungry (a real convenience). Safeway also donates bakery and dairy products weekly to the Center. Financial donations were from Steve and Jennifer Heath, Lorna Alexander, Monte Leonard and anonymous cash totalling $320. Everyone is so generous ... thank you never seems enough.

People have had their hours cut or missed a food stamp appointment for some reason, or are simply out of a job and in need of food. Many are terribly embarrassed to request food for the first time in their lives and hope to repay. In October we did receive $32 from clients trying to give back. Some clean up our lot, donate clothes or household items to repay. So many ask for prayers and leave crying in gratitude for the blessing of the food provided for them. Because of our generous community and churches, the Lord’s ministry has been happening for 31 years. Thank you to all of you who have come into the Center with surprise extra foodstuffs to add to our sacks the end of November and December. Our volunteers are grateful to be able to be so generous. They continue to donate food and toilet tissue and money, too. What a blessing!

In Jesus’ Name,
