The first-ever Walk4Life, which hopes to raise awareness about suicide in the Four Corners area, is scheduled for Sept. 22 from 4-8 p.m. at the pavilion in Parque de Vida.

“If we break the silence, we break the stigma,” Crystal Peterson, president of the 4Corners4Life Suicide Awareness Foundation, said in a press release on Tuesday. “If we raise our voices, we raise awareness.”

The foundation hopes to reach a broad demographic in the Four Corners area by providing positive family-friendly activities like the annual Skate4Life skateboard competition and this year’s inaugural Walk4Life.

Luminaries will line the walking path to commemorate lives dimmed by suicide, Peterson said, adding that guest speakers, kids activities, a storyteller, music, food, and local artisan vendors also are planned.

“Please join us in illuminating the evening and promoting resources and raising awareness,” she said.

For information on volunteering for Walk4Life, applying for vendor booths or donating items for a silent auction, call Peterson at 970-739-4112 or email crystalsheilene@hotmail.com.
