Mr. and Mrs. Cal Beaber and Don and Terry of Cortez were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Lee on Wednesday evening, Nov. 29.

Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Froede have just returned from Boulder where they spent the last two weeks visiting their children and grandchildren.

Mrs. E. W. Froede enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Carl Skoog in Cortez on Thursday, Nov. 30. The luncheon was in honor of Mrs. Skoog’s birthday.

Thanksgiving dinner guests at the home of Helen Fogel were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willis from Cortez, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Lee, Mr. and Mrs. George Denby, Irene Lee and Callie Lofqueist.

Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn AKin enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday in Grand Junction with their daughter-in-law, Janice and their two grandchildren. They were in the Junction Wednesday through Sunday.

Mrs. Evelyn Baviere from Paonia and Mr. and Mrs. John Bavier and Christy of Nucla spent the Thanksgiving holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brenner and family here in Dolores.

Mr. and Mrs. James Porter spent the holiday with their son Charles and family in San Bernadino, California and enjoyed visiting Disneyland while there. They arrived home on Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Nielson and Dart enjoyed Thanksgiving in Silver City, New Mexico with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McDonald. They reported snow while they were there. They came home on Saturday and then spent Sunday in Blanding visiting another daugther, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sanders and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Hayes and family spent the holiday weekend in Denver with their families, Mr. and Mrs. John Hayes and Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Garner. They left on Wednesday evening and arrived back home on Sunday night.

The Sky Hi Ski Club will hold their annual Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Stoner Alpine Lodge. A turkey and ham dinner will be served.

The Town Marshals’ Office in Dolores received a call about 9:11 p.m. on Saturday evening, Nov. 25 reporting that two windows had been broken out of a vacant building next door to the Hollywood Bar. A trash can had been thrown through one window and the lid from the can through the other one. The Sheriff’s office arrested the two suspects, Dale Morris and Tony (Steve) Muniz, in Cortez and they have been charged with criminal mischief. At the present time, both men have been released on bond. They are scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 4. The broken windows were valued between $600 and $900.

Joe Rosenaldo Lopez, age 22, of Dolores shot himself on Saturday evening, Nov. 25. The Dolores Town Marshal’s office was notified at about 7:11 p.m. by a friend of Lopez’s that the shooting accident had taken place. An ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital where his right leg had to be amputated below the knee.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bowden and Traci from Salt Lake City and Betty Bowden from Durango spent the holiday with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bowden here in Dolores.

Diane Umberger’s brother, Dave Crook has been here visiting with his sister and family for a few days. He left on Monday morning for VietNam where he will be serving another tour of duty in the armed services.

Mr. and Mrs. Kay Rash and family enjoyed a birthday dinner for Kay at the hoem of Mrs. Lois Rash last Saturday evening. Harry Rash was also present.
