Southwest Colorado Disaster Assistance announced that Durango and Silverton nonprofits impacted by the 416 Fire can apply through Aug. 30 to receive grants from its Community Emergency Relief Fund.

Durango and Silverton nonprofits can apply for grants to purchase goods or services that are normally donated from other businesses. Grants will be issued to nonprofits and can be used, through Oct. 31, to purchase goods and services from businesses included on the vendor list. Local businesses impacted by the 416 Fire can also apply to be added to the vendor list.

The grant requires nonprofits to attend a seminar with the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado. Also, 20 percent of funds received must be spent in Silverton.
