Christmas is fast approaching. The sky is expectantly waiting for the red, green and yellow lights to dance along Main Street in this year’s Parade of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Downtown will be afloat with Christmas-mobiles decorated in the holiday spirit. Schools, non-profit organizations, commercial businesses and more will show off their creative flair with pure Christmas spirit.

The 23rd annual parade is expecting 50 to 75 floats this year and the theme is the “Sights and Sounds of Christmas.” Each year participants are asked to create a float worthy of awe. Floats are judged on theme development, creativity and workmanship and lights in three different categories; commercial, non-profit and others. The winners are awarded cash prizes that are donated by the Four Corners Board of Realtors.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will continue until each float has passed. Participants will gather on Maple and Main Streets and proceed through downtown. Those who wish to stop will do so at Harrison Street while others may continue on to Park Street.

The community is invited to attend this annual holiday tradition. Candy will be given out to those lining the street so don’t forget to bring a bag.

There is no entry fee for floats and there is still time to get involved. Go to fourcornersboardofrealtors.com to print out an entry form. Sign and return it to Terry McCabe at Century 21 West Slope Realty, 2218 E. Main Street.
