Sunday, July 15

11:59 a.m.: Two men were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St., after employees reported they came in multiple times that day and stole a alcohol valued at $24.83 total.

4:14 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of violating bond conditions in the 300 block of East First Street after a welfare check on him in the alley.

6:38 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Maple Street on a misdemeanor warrant.

11:20 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.

Monday, July 16

1:11 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 200 block of West Main Street. A man reported someone had hit his truck, damaging its mirror, after 10:50 a.m. while he was at Cortez Dental. The case is under investigation.

7:41 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 100 block of East Main Street on suspicion of indecent exposure after witnesses reported she pulled down her pants. She was medically cleared because of intoxication.

8:26 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at National Nine Motel, 301 W. Main St., after police responded to a disturbance. When police contacted him, he reportedly started throwing items into a trash can, including a straw officers believed was used in drug consumption. A small bag of meth was found in his pocket.

Tuesday, July 17

12 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 700 block of East Main Street on a misdemeanor warrant after police ordered a man who was attempting to drive her vehicle to get out because he was intoxicated. She was medically cleared because of intoxication.

Wednesday, July 18

6:38 a.m.: A woman in the 600 block of East Empire Street reported that her car’s tires, including the spare, had been slashed the previous night, causing $800 in damage. The case is under investigation.

10:04 a.m.: Police responded to a report of graffiti at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1304 E. Empire St. Someone had reportedly written misogynistic slurs on the building. The reporting parties did not want to press charges but asked police to make a report of the incident.

12:57 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1600 block of East Second Street on three Montezuma and Montrose County warrants.

1:11 p.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

2:42 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run at Chevron gas station, 717 S. Broadway. A man said someone hit his vehicle while he was inside the station about 1 p.m., causing $1,000 of damage to its rear bumper and tailgate.

3:11 p.m.: Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 30 block of North Linden Street. A vehicle reportedly hit another one while backing out of a parking space.

3:45 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Madison Street on a La Plata County misdemeanor warrant.

11:03 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 1200 block of Montelores Avenue on a misdemeanor warrant and on suspicion of violating a protection order after the protected party reported she had knocked on her door. The woman was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because of intoxication, then jailed.

Thursday, July 19

3:09 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 1 block of South Harrison Street on a warrant for failure to comply on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared because of intoxication.

11:19 a.m.: Two men were arrested outside Holiday Inn, 2121 E. Main St., after reportedly trespassing. Each was arrested on two misdemeanor warrants.

1:26 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident in the 2500 block of East Main Street. One vehicle reportedly rear-ended a car that was stopped at a red light, causing minor damage.

1:51 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of North Market Street on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police performed a welfare check because she was lying on the side of the road. She was medically cleared because of intoxication.

4:32 p.m.: A man was arrested at Burger Boy, 400 E. Main St., on suspicion of driving under restraint.

6:34 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of failing to ride his bike in the designated lane after he reportedly hit a vehicle making a right turn, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

8:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of South Madison Street on a misdemeanor warrant and on suspicion of second-degree assault on a police officer, violating a protection order and resisting arrest. He reportedly resisted being handcuffed and started hitting his head against the patrol car, causing small dents in the hood. After officers put him inside the car, he reportedly started kicking the passenger seat, leading them to place hobbles on his feet. While one officer was trying to get him back inside, he reportedly bit him on the arm, causing minor bruising. Another officer used his stun gun on the man until he stopped biting the officer. He was medically cleared because of intoxication, cuts on his head and exposure to the stun gun.

10:02 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1000 block of South Chestnut Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a felony charge.

11:41 p.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 500 block of South Madison Street.

Friday, July 20

1:51 a.m.: A man was cited in the 600 block of North Ash Street on suspicion of driving while impaired and displaying expired number plates.

10:43 a.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant in the 400 block of North Henry Street.

2:43 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police checked on him while he was lying on a bench. He was medically cleared because of severe intoxication.

3:44 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on two misdemeanor warrants and on suspicion of domestic violence, harassment and a protection order violation after witnesses reported he had pushed his girlfriend, the protected party. He was medically cleared because of intoxication.

7:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on two misdemeanor warrants and on suspicion of violating a protection order. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

7:56 p.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant in the 1200 block of East Main Street.

10:51 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Main Street on three Montezuma and La Plata County misdemeanor warrants and on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving at night without headlights.

Saturday, July 21

12:42 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of West Main Street on suspicion of an open container violation and a parole violation after police contacted him for reportedly carrying an open bottle of vodka in his pocket. A container of marijuana and a pipe with marijuana residue were found in his possession.

12:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the Methodist Thrift Store, 444 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after witnesses reported he was intoxicated and harassing City Market customers. He was medically cleared because of intoxication.

1:39 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and trespassing at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after employees reported he had tried to steal a charger, a book and several CDs by hiding them in his backpack. He reportedly told police he tried to steal the items because he didn’t know the PIN number for his debit card.

7:25 p.m.: Police responded to a one-vehicle traffic accident at City Market, 508 E. Main St. A vehicle pulling a trailer hit a utility pole and knocked down a crosswalk signal while turning right onto North Harrison Street.
