The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Graces Soup Kitchen at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 110 W. North St. in Cortez.
This is the 14th year for the community dinner. Last year, around 380 people attended the dinner. The meal, with 27 turkeys, is an organizational chore with preparation beginning in mid-October. The dinner uses between 50-60 volunteers to pull off the feast.
Graces Kitchen also serves sit-down meals to the needy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sack lunches are prepared and distributed on Saturdays.
