Thursday, July 12

8:16 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 25000 block of County Road G. A woman reported a man and a woman had driven onto her property without permission and accused her husband of stealing a laptop and other property. She claimed they had also threatened her, chased her husband with a stick and broken the windshield on their vehicle. The husband claimed they had tried to steal his dog at the Ute Mountain Casino earlier in the morning, but also said two of his companions had stolen a laptop and other items from the couple’s room at Days Inn. He reportedly wanted to press charges for the broken windshield at first, but when he learned he could go to jail if the couple pressed charges for the items missing from their motel room, he changed his mind. Neither party pressed charges, and the case was dropped.

State St., on a Cortez Police Department warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of violating a protection order.
