Mountain Studies Institute, as part of its wetlands program, will hold a re-vegetation day to help restore ancient alpine fens from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ophir Pass near Silverton.

The event will focus on educating participants about alpine wetlands, also called fens, which store carbon, filter pollutants from water and support biodiversity. Although the day shouldn’t be strenuous, participants should be prepared for the elements.
