Wednesday, Jan. 4

2:44 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace at the Bridge Emergency Shelter, 601 N. Mildred Road, after he allegedly yelled and threw things at the building.

11:09 a.m.: A woman was cited for letting her dog run at large in the 600 block of East Third Street.

11:10 a.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.

3:42 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of second- and third-degree assault in City Park, 803 E. Montezuma Ave., after they allegedly attacked a man and woman and beat the man with his own cane.

10:55 p.m.: A man reported to the Cortez Police Department that he was being harassed by another man through text messages.

Thursday, Jan. 5

9:35 a.m.: A man reported that his tires had been slashed in the 1400 block of Mesa Verde Street.

5:27 p.m. A man was arrested in the field outside Holiday Inn, 2121 E. Main St. on a warrant in a felony court case.

Friday, Jan. 6

9:42 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 20 block of West Andrew Lane on suspicion of violating a protection order.

11:44 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of East First Street on suspicion of selling and possessing meth after more than 7 grams of the drug were found in his car.

4:08 p.m.: A man was arrested at the County Assessor’s Office, 140 W. Main St., on suspicion of criminal mischief, menacing and domestic violence, after he allegedly punched out the passenger window of his girlfriend’s vehicle and threatened to hit her.

10:09 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Main Street on suspicion of driving under the influence and child abuse. Three children were in his car when he was pulled over.

Saturday, Jan. 7

3:35 a.m.: A man was arrested at Handy Mart, 806 S. Broadway, on suspicion of DUI.

8:39 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St., for failing to appear in court for an out-of-county misdemeanor, and on suspicion of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police recovered a necklace, vitamins and a pair of shorts he allegedly took from the store.

1:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in the parking lot of the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 Roger Smith Ave., on a felony warrant for possession and distribution of a controlled substance, and on a new charge of possession after about 5 grams of meth, three cell phones, a hypodermic needle and $222 in cash were found in his vehicle.

4:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the City Market parking lot, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order.

Sunday, Jan. 8

2:04 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of Mildred Road on suspicion of driving under the influence, failing to signal and failing to stop at a stop sign.

2:12 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 500 block of South Madison Street after they were pulled over for driving erratically. The man was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor case, and the woman was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal impersonation, driving with a suspended license and possessing drug paraphernalia. About 10 grams of meth were seized from the woman’s vehicle, along with a loaded gun and $310 in cash.

Monday, Jan. 9

9:41 a.m.: Four Corners Chiropractic, 440 W. Main St., reported that a floor mat valued at $200 had been stolen from its building the night before.

3:41 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a warrant in the 200 block of North Park Street for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

4:34 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

Tuesday, Jan. 10

1:54 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of East Empire Street on suspicion of stealing a $148 remote-control drone from Wal-Mart two days before.

9:23 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant in the 10 block of West Main Street for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

1:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Centennial Park on suspicion of violating a protection order.

3:40 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant in the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

10:04 p.m. A woman was arrested in the 300 block of South Maple Street on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence, after she allegedly punched her ex-husband and caused serious injuries to his face.

11:50 p.m. A man was arrested in the 600 block of South Washington Street on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after his girlfriend claimed he had hit and kicked her.

Wednesday, Jan. 11

1:06 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of Wyoming Street on suspicion of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, domestic violence, criminal mischief and obstruction of telephone services. He had allegedly hit and strangled his girlfriend multiple times and caused $200 of damage to a door by kicking it.
