DOLORES FFA students attended the Hesperus Leadership Camp last month.

Hesperus Leadership Camp was first established in 1982 and the Dolores FFA students have been attending ever since. This is a popular event that almost all schools in the FFA district attend.

There were 29 attendees from Dolores and 107 students from all over the district. This is the first event of the year and is well attended by schools from all over the district. The southwest district includes: Dolores, Dove Creek, Ignacio, Durango and Cortez. The students do leadership activities to expand their learning and leading abilities. They have activities such as a volleyball tournament and tug-a-war tournament, between lunch and leadership activities. On the night that they sleep over at Hesperus Baptist Camp there is a dance held and then there is a Reflections, where we reflect on ourselves and the people we are with. We sometimes even do activities to get closer to each other in interactive ways of leadership. This is an extremely enjoyable event where we meet new people from around our area and make new friends. They also vote on new district officers, the new officers are: president, Landon Wilson, Cortez; vice president/treasurer, Skkye Moreno, Durango;Secretary/Reporter, Reyetta Hubbs, Durango.
