Items submitted at least two weeks in advance will have a better chance of getting published; items submitted several days before the event might not get published. Free Movie Monday!



The Mancos Public Library will be showing the following movies in November each Monday:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe

Nov. 19: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Nov. 26: The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

Thanksgiving dinner to be held at Summit Lake Church



The Summit Lake Community Church will host a community Thanksgiving dinner again this year, to be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening, Nov. 18. The church is located at 36501 Hwy. 184, just across from Summit Lake. The church will furnish the turkey and all the trimmings and drinks, and asks that the members of the community bring a side dish or dessert. This has been an annual event for several years and gives the community a chance to get together and get acquainted with new folks in the area. Everyone is welcome so if you have company, bring them too. For more information, call the church at 882-4144.




Quilt auction at the library



The Mancos Public Library will host a Quilt Auction and Fall Open House on Nov. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. Live music (courtesy of Jamie Bechtel and Dan Fitzpatrick), treats, buggy rides (courtesy of Will Stone), kids activities, a campfire with storytelling and a cider press (bring your own apples and containers). Quilts will be hung in the library and bid sheets made available starting Nov. 1 and the silent auction will end at 6 p.m. on Nov. 18. There is a $5 suggested donation. Make your own greeting cards



The Painted Turtle Art Studio is offering a class on making your own greeting cards. What better time to come to the studio for some hot treats cocoa and create all your own greeting cards this year. All ages are welcome.

In this lively 3-hour class you will create colorful and whimsical holiday cards including designs celebrating Winter, Hanukah, Christmas and the New Year. Using rubber stamps, glitter, a rainbow of paper colors, fancy scissors and ribbon you will end the evening with 8 handmade greeting cards to share with your loved ones. Jaime Becktel is the instructor for this class on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $20, which includes materials and yummy wintery snacks.




Yoga Wednesdays at Kaleidoscope



Gentle yoga basics with Keneen is at 9 a.m. to 10:15. Yoga all levels with Keneen is at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first class is free and drop ins are $12 and sign-in is encouraged.




Bilingual storytime at Mancos Library



The Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St, is now offering Little People Storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in both English and Spanish. Children ages 3-6 will be taught songs, verses and stories in both languages with the changing of the seasons emphasized. A craft is also offered. Free! Indoor flea market to be ongoing



There will be an Indoor Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Flea Market will be held at the Old Hardware Store, 192 S. Main, across the bridge and just past The Absolute Bakery. Everyone is welcome to come sell, browse and buy. Spaces are available — 12’x12’ for $12 for both days. Call 749-9320 for more information. Teen writing group meets on Wednesdays



Local writer Suzanne Strazza in partnership with the Mancos Public Library, will be leading a writer’s group for teens ages 13-19. This group will meet at the Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St., every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. No prior writing experience is needed. There will be no homework or required writing for this class; it is merely to explore ideas and how to get them onto paper. For more information, please call MPL at 533-7600.




Teen Computer Club at Mancos library



The first Wednesday of each month at 5 to 6:30 p.m. teens will meet in the Community Meeting Room at the Mancos Public Library to work on various computer projects. All meetings will have hands on experience with digital devices, disassemble, build, etc. At times we will have regional computer geeks visit. They will answer questions on specified topics, such as animation, robotics, game development hacking, etc. Questions? Call for more information at 970-533-7600.
