San Juan Basin Archaeological Society to meet Wednesday

San Juan Basin Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

Susan Ryan, director of archaeology at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, will give a presentation, “Northern Chaco Outliers Project,” and discuss excavations at the Haynie site near Cortez.

A social will be held before the meeting from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Ryan is also the director of Crow Canyon’s College Field School, principle investigator for Earthwatch Institute and the principal investigator of the Northern Chaco Outliers Project, which conducts research in the Mesa Verde region that focuses on human-environment relationships, community formation, migration and the post-Chaco transition.
