Leopard Sharks swimming fast

The Cortez Leopard Sharks have swam well in the fall season.

Troy Thomason, Trenton Bagge, Tyler Cutrone and David Crumpacker all had first-place finishes at the Montrose Fall Open last Saturday.

Thomason won the boys 7-8, 25-meter freestyle in 23.54.

Bagge took the boys 9-10, 100-meter free at 1:22.26 and won the 50-meter butterfly in 48.78. He also placed second in the 100-Individual Medley (1:37.75), 50-free (37.47) and third in the 50-meter backstroke (45.23).

Cutrone won boys 9-10, 50-meter breaststroke in 51.90 and the 100-breast in a time of 1:54.86. He was also fourth in the 50-back (48.75).

Crumpacker was victorious in the boys 8-Under, 50-back (1:02.29), second in the 7-8, 25-back (27.58) and fifth in the 8U 25-breast (45.02).

Other boys finishes were Garrett Boren, third 11-12, 200-free (3:15.72), Skyler Yarbrough, 13-14, 100-free, third, 1:19.25; and, Ryan Cutrone, 11-12, 100-free, fourth, 1:28.40.

For the girls, Samantha Bagge led the way in the 13-14 age group. She placed second in the 100-IM (1:27.42) and 100-back (1.23.23). Samantha Bagge also swam to third- and-fourth-place times in the 200-IM (3:09.97) and 50-fly (38.70).

Ellen McAlpin was second in the 8U, 50-breast (1:04.12) and fifth in the 25-fly (32.56).

Elizabeth McAlpin placed fourth in the 9-10, 50-back at 46.24.

Caisey Duran was second in the 13-14, 200-breast (3:44.72), third in the 50-meter back (41.25) and fifth in the 50-fly (45.08).

Victoria Duran came in third in the 9-10, 25-fly at a finish of 26.52.

Bailey Duran placed third and fourth in the 13-14, 50-free (34.86) and 200-IM (3:16.77).

The Leopard Sharks will host a meet next Saturday at the Cortez Recreation Center beginning at 9:15 a.m.
