Natural Resources Conservation Service in Colorado has funding available to help private landowners who sustained losses from the 416 Fire.

The agency’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program is taking applications to assist local agricultural producers who may have had property damaged.

Landowners interested in replacing or restoring irrigation systems, replacing windbreaks and shelter belts, rebuilding fences, protecting and restoring scorched grazing lands, and putting in place conservation measures to mitigate losses are encouraged to apply.

Producers harmed by the fire must submit applications by July 13 to the Durango NRCS field office, which covers La Plata and San Juan counties, at 31 Suttle Street in Durango. The telephone number is 422-3365.
